Katy Hill answers Hairflair questions

What’s the worst haircut you have ever had?

I have always had quite long hair but about 4 years ago I split with my boyfriend so went for the chop. I quite liked it but when I went to Australia on Holiday for some strange reason I decided to go to the supermarket, pick up a pair of haircutting scissors and cut my hair myself. I wanted that choppy Victoria Beckham look and let’s just say it didn’t really work out. Thank goodness I wasn’t on TV at the time.

How much do you spend on hair products a month?
Collectively I’d say about forty pounds and that includes things like my L’Oreal hair serum and sprays.

If you could change one thing about your hair e.g. length, colour, thickness what would it be?
It would have to be my hair thickness or lack of it. Luckily playing with different hair colours can make my hair look thicker than it really is.

Who do you model yourself on hair-wise?
Not anyone really. I loved Julia Roberts’s hair in Pretty Woman, that was amazing but my hair is not thick enough for that.

Where do you get your haircut and how much does it cost you?
I have my haircut and coloured at Janet Ginnings and it costs me £71.50.

What hair products can’t you live without?
I couldn’t live without L’Oreal’s Oleo Relax conditioner.

What’s your daily hair routine?
I wash my hair everyday day with a shampoo and conditioner. I then leave it to air dry so that it gets its own natural wave.

What’s your top tip for super hair?
My super hair tip is to cut your hair regularly and protect it in the summer, like wearing a hat.

What’s the best hair and beauty tip your mother gave you?
My Mum always told me cleanse and moisturise. Even now to protect my skin from the sunrays I will always use a sun cream instead of a conventional moisturiser. The damage the sun does to the hair and skin is scary.

How long go you spend styling your hair on the morning?
Seriously, about 4 minutes. After I have washed and conditioned my hair I then simply put some serum through my hair to keep it well conditioned.

Do you wash and blow-dry your hair everyday?
I wash my hair everyday, no blow dry.

Who's your favourite celebrity hairdresser and why?
Well that’s got to be Janet. She is so kind and the atmosphere at the salon is always so welcoming and fun. Whenever I have film premiere I always go to Janet’s before hand to have a beautiful blow-dry from Michael and I usually bring in my own make-up artist to do my make-up. Its luxury.

Top five hair products?
I would have to say my Kerastase Shampoo and CondiLast but not least, L’Oreal Infinium Finition FX hairspray.

When was the last time you had your hair cut and what did you have done?
The last time I had my hair done was about a month and a half ago and I had my hair coloured.

Is your hair dyed or natural? What colour is it naturally?
Contrary to belief my hair is coloured. My natural colour is a light brown colour but when the sun it tends to go lighter
